At least five people were killed in a fire at a road construction site in Pinakota village in Andhra Pradesh’s Alluri Sitaramaraju district on Saturday, police said. The fire may have broken out during the refuelling of a dumper truck, possibly triggered by a spark when workers were filling its tank with diesel transported in drums. Superintendent of Police Amit Bardar said it was an accidental fire, not a blast. Police teams have reached the site, and an investigation is underway.
A landslide hit a government bus near Burliyar in Tamil Nadu’s Nilgiris district amid heavy rains, according to a video shared by PTI. Further details, including whether anyone was injured, are not immediately available.
